Benefits of Our In-House Dental Membership

Regular dental checkups and cleanings are extremely beneficial to your oral health and overall wellbeing. However, dental costs can often be a concern for patients without dental insurance. While financial concerns can make it tempting to only visit the dentist when something is wrong, consistent visits can actually help prevent more expensive dental disease and dental emergencies.

At Vero Dental, we offer an in-house dental membership plan to make quality dental care more affordable so you can access the care you need to prevent and treat oral health problems!

Affordable Annual Fee

The Vero Dental in-house dental membership plans can provide significant cost savings compared to traditional dental insurance. With no middlemen or third-party involvement, you pay a fixed annual fee directly to our dental practice. This eliminates the complexities of copays, deductibles, and claim forms, making budgeting for dental care simple! Our adult plan is $390/year and our child plan is $230/year.

Comprehensive Preventive Care

Our dental membership plans prioritize preventive care. Members receive routine checkups, cleanings, and X-rays as part of their membership. Preventing dental issues saves money and time and ensures a healthier, pain-free smile. Membership also unlocks a 15% discount on other non-cosmetic services!

Personalized Treatment

Choosing to receive all your dental care from Vero Dental allows us to foster a closer dentist-patient relationship. With consistent visits, our team has a better understanding of your dental history, preferences, and specific needs. This personalized approach enhances the quality of care we can provide.

Should I Get a Custom Mouthguard for Sports?

Woman martial artist in a black tanktop wears a custom mouthguard as she poses ready to box

A nightguard protects your teeth and jaw from damage if you grind your teeth and clench your jaw as you sleep. An athletic mouthguard is meant to protect your teeth, lips, and mouth when playing contact sports or engaging in high-impact physical activity. Whether you play recreational soccer on the weekends or you’re a regular at the boxing gym, a custom mouthguard for sports will help keep your smile safe while you work up a sweat.

Benefits of a Sports Mouthguard

The main benefit of wearing a mouthguard is that you can participate in an athletic activity without worrying that you might wind up breaking, cracking, or losing a tooth if you fall or get hit in the face. Some sports’ organizations require a mouthguard as part of the uniform, like football. But even if you or your child aren’t required to wear a mouthguard, it’s not a bad idea to wear one anyway as a buffer if an accident occurs.

While many sporting goods stores sell generic one-size-fits-all plastic mouthguards or boil-and-bite mouthguards, a custom mouthguard made by your dentist is the best option. A custom mouthguard is specially made to fit snugly against your teeth for optimal protection. It is also more comfortable to wear, which makes it easier to talk and breathe than if you were wearing a bulky store-bought mouthguard. Athletes are more likely to actually wear an oral appliance if it is comfortable!

Custom Mouthguards in Denver, CO

Do you need a custom mouthguard to protect your smile for an athletic activity? The first step in getting your custom mouthguard is to visit our office. We use an iTero scanner to create an incredibly precise digital impression of your mouth, which will then be sent to a dental lab. When your mouthguard is ready, you’ll come back in to try it on and we’ll evaluate whether it needs any adjustments.

How to Encourage Your Child to Brush Their Teeth

Young boy smiles at his mom after brushing his teeth at the bathroom sink

Good oral hygiene is just as important for kids as for adults! We understand that many kids struggle with brushing their teeth. But poor brushing habits can make your child more vulnerable to developing bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease. Here are some ideas to help your child be more consistent about brushing their teeth every day:

  1. Start Young
  2. Habits started young are more likely to persist as a child gets older. Start cleaning a baby’s gums every night with a damp, soft cloth. As soon as they start getting teeth, brush twice a day with a soft-bristled child’s toothbrush and a tiny smear of toothpaste the size of a grain of rice. Once your child has two teeth touching, you should begin flossing too. Starting early helps your child get used to the routine and feel of using a toothbrush and floss.

  3. Let Them Choose Their Tools
  4. Children like to feel a sense of control. Letting them choose their toothbrush and toothpaste can be a simple way to help them feel more involved in their oral hygiene. Whenever it’s time to replace their toothpaste or toothbrush, you could bring your child with you to the store to pick their next soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste. Or you could buy two different toothbrushes and/or toothpaste flavors and allow them to choose which to use each morning and night.

  5. Play a Song for 2 Minutes
  6. Your child may be brushing their teeth twice a day, but are they brushing for the full two minutes each time? To encourage them to brush long enough, play two minutes of their favorite song. This can keep your child more engaged in brushing, especially if you join in and brush your teeth too.

  7. Use an App
  8. There are many brushing apps available for both iOS and Android that are designed specifically for kids. Using colorful characters and music, the timers let your child know how long they should brush each section of their mouth.

5 Tips for Healthy Gums

Brunette man wearing a green shirt and sunglasses smiles by a lake with healthier gums in Denver, CO

Happy National Gum Disease Awareness Month! Now is the time to check-in on your gum health, and consider what you can do to safeguard or improve it. In this post, we’ll go over our five top tips for promoting healthy gums.

  1. Brush Right
  2. When it comes to gum health, your general oral care is a top priority. When you’re caring for your teeth, you’re also caring for your gums. Need a refresher on great oral care? Brushing your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush is a must. Make sure you’re doing it for two minutes each time, and that you’re not brushing too forcefully. Aggressive brushing can damage the teeth and gums.

  3. Never Skip Flossing
  4. Brushing and flossing go hand-in-hand. So in addition to daily brushing, you need to be flossing daily. Why? Flossing gets at the places that a toothbrush just can’t. Dental floss can reach the pesky plaque hiding between your teeth and under your gums, which is a key culprit in causing gum disease.

  5. Eat a Balanced Diet
  6. A healthy diet full of lean proteins, fruits, and veggies, and low in processed sugars and carbohydrates, will help you create less plaque, which means you reduce your risk of gum disease and tooth decay.

  7. Stay Hydrated
  8. Drinking lots of water is excellent for both your overall health and your oral health. Water rinses out the mouth and removes food particles and plaque that cause gum disease. Plus, it stimulates saliva production. Saliva is a key element in your mouth’s defense against disease and decay. It contains powerful enzymes that fight germs and promote healthy gums.

  9. Visit Vero Dental in Denver, CO
  10. When it comes to gum disease, early detection is the best way to beat it. Visit our dental office twice a year for routine cleanings and exams. At these appointments, our Denver dentists will evaluate your mouth for oral health issues, like gum disease and tooth decay. But if you notice your gums are swollen, tender, bleeding, and abnormally red, schedule your next appointment ASAP so we can help you achieve healthier gums!
