Are dental extractions painful?

Even if you are only having one tooth removed, you will not want to make any plans after your extraction. It is best to return home and rest for at least the rest of the day, especially if dental sedation was used. Too much activity too soon can disrupt the healing process and cause a painful complication called a dry socket. Once you get home, we recommend sticking to soft foods that require little to no chewing and propping your head up on a few pillows to reduce any swelling that may occur.
